Backend Engineer (Laravel)

About the Role

You'll work on Bayaroo's core backend — the engine behind property listings, experience bookings, Cashfree payments, AI trip planning, and real-time notifications. This is a high-ownership role where your code directly affects millions of travel moments.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs consumed by the website and mobile apps
• Own features end-to-end: schema design → migrations → business logic → deployment
• Integrate and maintain third-party services: Cashfree, AWS S3, Twilio/SMS, and more
• Write clean, tested, documented Laravel code following SOLID principles
• Review pull requests, mentor junior engineers, and uphold engineering standards
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks — query optimisation, caching, queues
• Participate in on-call rotation for production incidents

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience
• Deep expertise in PHP 8.x and the Laravel framework
• Strong grasp of MySQL — indexing, query optimisation, and complex joins
• Experience with Redis (caching, queues) and job scheduling
• Solid understanding of REST API design, versioning, and security best practices
• Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, SES)
• Comfortable working in a Git-based workflow with CI/CD pipelines

Nice to Have

Not required, but you'll stand out if you have any of these.

• Experience with Sanctum / Passport for API authentication
• Knowledge of payment gateway integrations (Cashfree, Razorpay)
• Exposure to microservices or event-driven architecture
• Contributions to open-source PHP projects
